Soundgarden Kicks Off Reunion Tour

Soundgarden launched their reunion tour on Saturday night in Toronto, marking their first outing as a band in 14 years.

The group-which originally separated in 1997 and whose last album, Down on the Upside, was released in 1996-played a two-hour, 21-song set which included their hits "Black Hole Sun," "Rusty Cage" and "Fell on Black Day," as well as lesser known tracks including "Black Rain" (an unreleased track from 1991's Badmotorfinger sessions).

Lead singer Chris Cornell welcomed the audience of 16,000 fans on behalf of his band (composed of lead guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd): "Welcome to the first show of the first tour in 13, 14 years. This is the best place to start. It sounds like bulls**t, but it's not bulls**t."

The 20-city tour wraps up in Washington State on July 30. Soundgarden is currently working on a new album, which is expected to drop in early 2012.

Trent Reznor Hires Fight Club Writer For Year Zero HBO Miniseries

Trent Reznor has recruited the services of screenwriter Jim Uhls (Fight Club, Jumper) to pen his upcoming HBO miniseries Year Zero, which is based on the 2007 Nine Inch Nails album of the same name.

Reports state that Year Zero focuses around a dystopian society set in 2022, a time in which the United States is governed by Christian fundamentalists. In the series, anyone who shows independent thought or dissent disappears.

Year Zero will serve as Reznor's first foray into dramatic fiction writing for the small screen. The former NIN frontman took home the Oscar for Best Score for the movie The Social Network, and is now again working with director David Fincher, this time lending his unique talents to the score of Fincher's upcoming adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler to release new solo single in July!

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has announced details of the UK release of his latest solo single.

'(It) Feels So Good', which features vocals from ex-Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, will be released on July 11.

It follows the release of Tyler's debut solo single 'Love Lives' last year. The track acted as the theme song for Japanese movie Space Battleship Yamato.

Meanwhile, Aerosmith are set to hit the studio next month to work on a new album, which will be the follow-up to 2004's 'Honkin' On Bobo'.

Earlier this month guitarist Joe Perry confirmed that the band are planning to work with producer Jack Douglas.

"Laying down some new tracks this week. Been listening to fans' comments over last couple of years putting that in creative blender," he wrote on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/admiralperry.

The forthcoming 15th studio album has been stalled by various health, touring and member complications.

The band's drummer Joey Kramer previously revealed that the new album "is going to be an old-school Aerosmith record"
